How we met
When Yomi and I started talking,I honestly didn’t know he was going to come to mean the whole world to me. We had attended the same church since we were kids but we never really had a proper conversation. In
January 2009,the angels from heaven decided that it was time for us to take a step closer to our love story.
After church service on 18th Jan, 2009, I was feeling sick and decided to visit the pharmacy opposite the church. Yomi saw me and thought to say hello. We got talking and later exchanged phone numbers. Later that night,he called to check if I was feeling better. After that day he called regularly and we became really good friends.
Fast forward a few weeks, we went for lunch and Yomi told me how much he loved spending time with me and how he looked forward to talking to me each day. He wanted us to be more than just friends. I was reallybsurprised because I wasn’t expecting that so I told him I would have to ponder over it.
On the 12th of April, 2009, I decided I was ready to try. I remember our first movie together as a couple;12 rounds (Lead actor -John Cena). Yomi assured me that he was ready to go endless rounds to keep me just like in the movie…Lol. Our relationship took different turns and in 2010 we broke up. Yomi never stopped calling. Even when he travelled out of the country for his masters he kept in touch. He was eager to help me with my project and even sought out online materials for me to work with. The love I had for him waxed stronger and stronger despite the fact that we were just friends.
In Feb 2013, the stars aligned and we got back together, and our love for each other grew immensely. We couldn’t go a day without talking to each other. On Jan 30th 2015, he popped the question “Will you marry me” in the most romantic way that brought tears to my eyes. And my response was a big fat YES! Ofcourse I would marry the man that has the fear of God in him, loves me with all of him, believes in my dreams and always motivates me to become a better person. You may wonder how I am able to quote the exact dates…oh Yes Yomi is good at keeping dates. I’m so excited and 110% ready to go all the way with him. He truly is the man of my dreams.
The proposal story…..( January 30th, 2015)
Three weeks before the proposal day,Tayo (my friend) invited me for an event organised in her office. She told me to fix my nails because I will be greeting a lot of people and that I had to look really nice. Luckily for me,I was off that weekend at work. I told Yomi (my fiance) and he said he won’t be available that day because he will be out of town. I sincerely didn’t want to fix my nails but my friend insisted that I should. So on friday Yomi told me he was travelling and he won’t be back until Saturday evening (the proposal day)
On Saturday,Tayo,Vicki(another friend of mine) and me dressed up and left the house for the event.
Tayo was upset because I wasnt ready on time, she said she was going to give the opening speech and so we had to get there early. On getting to the venue, Grillsinandout in Lekki, there were people sitting down and there were cameramen (still and video)The place was decorated with baloons and red petals. Unknown to me the people in the venue were decoration team and few of Yomi’s friends that I have not met. As soon as we got there,Tayo apologised openly for coming late and then said some few words about the supposed event. Then another person stood up and talked about the event.
Few minutes later,a saxophonist came in and started playing “All of me ” by John Legend with his saxophone. As soon as he came in,I just knew it was a proposal set up,I burst into tears (that’s because I am very emotional)After he came in,my sisters, family and friends all came in with him, some of them holding a coke bottle. It was just too much for me to handle,so I kept on crying and wanted to run away, but my sister held me back. Few seconds later,my better half came in with the last coke bottle to make it six bottles that were brought in and it says “Beautiful Busola Will You Marry Me” I was stunned and I went straight to hug him.
We hugged for a while and then he took me back to the couch and knelt down and started the speech. He told me how much he loves and appreciates me and how he wants to build an empire with me.Then finally said “Will You Marry Me ??? ” Everybody started screaming “Say Yes” and my response was “Of Course I Will” and that was the begining of another chapter of our Love Life.
