Osamu Ogbonmwanm, head makeup artist at Beauty Matters, with her team created a series of
bridal makeovers for the Edo-Bini brides out there!
The Okuku hairstyle is done in such a way that the hair is placed in a large bun using a crown of coral beads. In this shoot, the the makeup artists shares their experience with the choices a bride can make, either opting for crowns with 2, 3 or 4 ‘hands’ or none at all.
According to Osamu: “While we have a traditional red wrapper, we also tried to play with other colours for brides who are a little more adventurous.
We also borrowed a beaded cap worn by Niger Delta brides as we’re so crazy about all things coral.
Lastly, who doesn’t love a Yoruba bride in full asooke? We just couldn’t resist having one!
We hope our Edo brides from all over get inspired by these pictures. Ovbioha mi arho!”
